Many pumps aren’t accessible, and if you need assistance, finding it can feel like a game of roulette where “winning” means accessing a service that everyone else takes for granted. Na de lancering van fuelService in Oktober had Ieder(in), de overkoepelde organisatie voor alle gehandicapten, alle brandstof-distributeurs opgeroepen zich aan te sluiten bij fuelService.

Dankzij de gratis ‘fuelService’-app krijgen gehandicapte bestuurders voortaan eenvoudig hulp bij het tanken. Op dit moment zijn 250 tankstations in de app te vinden. Shell heeft zich als eerste Nederlandse energiebedrijf aan de app verbonden. “Wij verwachten echter dat andere benzinemerken gaan volgen. FuelService is namelijk erg simpel in gebruik, zowel voor de bestuurders als voor de stations”, zegt de Eindhovense Corinne Jeanmaire, de initiatiefnemer van fuelService in Nederland en zelf rolstoelgebruiker.
